Facilities Maintenance Coordinator – Full-time

40 hours per week

The Brantford Public Library requires an energetic, motivated and career-minded team player to coordinate facility maintenance. The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for performing and coordinating general building and property maintenance, maintaining HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment. Coordinate the day to day operation of the maintenance department. Responsible for the upkeep and preservation of Brantford Public Library facilities and properties, including snow removal. Accountable for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility equipment according to safety, predictive and prescribed maintenance schedules and processes to support the achievement of the Library’s Mission.

Salary Range: $52,349. - $58,124 annual (salary under review). Plus benefits as stated in the Collective Agreement. Participation in the Ontario Municipal Employees Pension Fund.

Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week, plus on-call service for emergency situations,

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Diploma or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance or other relevant post-secondary education.
  • 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Valid G-class License and access to a vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate an asset
  • Safe ladder use training an asset
  • Health and safety training an asset

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the inspection and maintenance of building and equipment systems: Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning; plumbing; vacuum, lighting and electrical; cabling; fire safety, security, etc.
  • Purchases and maintains supplies for building systems equipment
  • Coordinates and inspects the day-to-day operations of maintenance staff and maintenance contractors
  • Provides leadership, direction, coordination and guidance to maintenance staff, referring performance and discipline issues to the appropriate manager
  • Ensures that library furniture and furnishings are in a good state of repair
  • Provides direction and support to security contract workers
  • Recommends and implements preventative maintenance routines
  • Arranges for the removal of office waste and recycling
  • Secures buildings
  • Identifies training needs and delivers designated training and orientation modules to staff
  • Ensures compliance with the Library’s Health and Safety and related procedures
  • Collaborates with other staff to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of designated services
  • Provides support custodial services as needed
  • Provides on-call service for emergency situations
  • Implements assigned projects
  • Transports materials and equipment as needed
  • Procures services of external contractors in compliance with library purchasing policy
  • Participates in short and long-term facility maintenance plans
  • Provides information to assist in the development of the operating and capital budgets
  • Prioritizes facilities work based on Management feedback and direction
  • Maintains the facility related health and safety documentation, procedures and training
  • Other duties consistent with job responsibilities

A valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.

A Police Check for the vulnerable sector that is current within the past year is required.

Testing will be a part of the interview process.
