Promotion of resident wellness is a priority for Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) at McMaster University. The Resident Affairs office, led by the Assistant Dean, Resident Affairs, provides support to postgraduate learners and guidance to residency programs and faculty on best practices to promote learner wellness in respectful, nurturing, and safe learning environment.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education, the Assistant Dean, Resident Affairs, is responsible for the development and implementation of several initiatives and programs related to resident wellness. You are expected to work closely with other offices both within and outside the University.
The Assistant Dean is expected to develop and maintain effective outreach processes to identify and assist residents in difficulty including providing in-person and virtual consultations to assist residents in difficulty. As well, your office will engage residents and program leaders in innovative strategies to address major topics of concerns related to resident well-being and will develop and implement curriculum on Resident Wellness and on Fatigue Risk Management.
As the ideal candidate, you hold a faculty appointment within the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster and have leadership experience in medical education, program development and administration and strong communication, presentation, and team-building skills. In addition, you have experience in curriculum development and have an in-depth knowledge of current physician and student wellness issues. You are collaborative, collegial and inclusive with strong communication skills.
This position is available for a 5-year term, renewable. The position is currently assessed as 0.4 FTE (with review after 6 months).
