Description
As the Maintenance Technician your primary job requirement is to oversee & implement the plant maintenance program. Included are the repair, replacement, lubrication and inspection of parts or equipment in production and around the facility. Work is completed out in the plant site or at a bench in the maintenance shop.This position is steady afternoon shift ( 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm ).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensure safe, timely and satisfactory completion of all mechanical maintenance work
  • Maintain and improve the plants preventive/predictive maintenance system
  • Lead problem solving and analyze results of maintenance repairs
  • Represent the plant interests in all capital improvement projects
  • Maintain a professional relationship by active collaboration with other departments
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to read/write English
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to work overtime
  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience in maintenance related work.
  • Possess an Inter-provincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright trade certification or other relevant industrial certification ex. Electrician.

Preferred

  • Able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.
  • Able to work in elevated areas
  • Able to operate machinery
  • Able to operate heavy equipment
  • Forklift certified.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to perform maintenance trades including electrical, machinist, gearbox and bearing, maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic.
  • Automation control, boiler and steam systems training/experience is an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude to work from all types of blueprints, maintenance manuals, and drawings and the mathematical knowledge required for such work
  • Able to price, plan and lead capital projects for the plant
  • Practical ‘hands on’ experience in a manufacturing/agricultural environment
  • Possess basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations with absolute commitment to safety
  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively and lead within a team environment
  • Strong problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process (predictive and preventative maintenance) and Predictive Technologies

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $29.00 /hour
