This is a position for a key member of the Collaborative Outreach Navigation Exchange of Information Team (CONeX) project that was initiated in May 2016 with the goal of creating an ongoing sustainable model. This project is associated with three Regional Collaborative Service Delivery systems in southern and central Alberta. Reporting to the Manager of Collaborative Initiatives in the Child & Adolescent Addictions and Mental Health Psychiatry Program, the Family Counsellor with the CONeX team will provide assistance to systems supporting children and youth ages 6-20 (and their families or caregivers) who have co-morbid diagnoses that includes a complex mental health concern. They will provide support across a partnership of three Regional Collaborative Service Delivery regions (Calgary and Area RCSD, Bow River RCSD and Central East RCSD) in both urban and rural settings. They will be asked to provide comprehensive integrated, time-limited case coordination, collaborative intervention across systems – school, home and community, and a level of project coordination and evaluation. They will work to attain the primary goal to address the functional needs across environments together with existing teams so that the child/youth can be successful within their home, school and community.
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of direct clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health, including community mental health and/or an acute psychiatric setting – working with children or youth with complex co-morbid mental health/developmental diagnoses. Knowledge, skills and experience in assessment and DSM-V diagnoses. Experience providing family systems therapy. Experience working with and knowledge of programs and specialty services offered throughout Calgary and area. Proficient in using Microsoft Office (including Excel).
Experience working with Children’s Services, Health, Education, community services, partnership initiatives, multi-cultural groups and program development. Knowledge of the inter-relationships between school milieus, community and family systems. Experience with providing capacity building support to other professionals and families in the form of both consultation and professional presentations.
