WJS Canada is currently looking for 1 individual to join the Gladstone program team in Vancouver, as a part-time Residence Worker, including Residenctial Child & Youth Worker shifts (38.5hrs/week).

Under the supervision of the program manager and/or other senior staff, the Residence Worker is responsible for providing general, non-specific client services. The position ensures physical, emotional, social, educational and medical needs are met. Assists clients to enhance quality of life and the development of life skills. Provides behavioral support and supervision in the program and community, implements and monitors individual program plans through observation and accurate reporting and participates in operating and maintaining the program.
The Residential Child and Youth Worker (RCYW) provides care to children and youth with moderate to severe behavioural problems, in a residential program setting, in an accredited agency. As key worker for assigned persons served, the RCYW is responsible for overall development and care of those individuals. In conjunction with the individual’s care team, the RCYW assesses physical, psychological, social and developmental needs, and designs and implements individualized personal service plans and plans of care that address and meet those needs. The RCYW also participates in the operation and maintenance of the program.
This permanent part-time position will work 38.5 hours per week with a weekly schedule of:
Monday and Tuesday 1530-2300
Position will work 36.5hrs (Grid 10) in the role of a Residence Worker and 2hrs (Grid 11) in the role of a Residential Child and Youth Worker. This position requires membership with CUPE.
As an ideal candidate you possess:
A certificate, diploma or degree in one of the humanities, social work or related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of one year recent related experience in complex health, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
Valid CPR/First Aid
Valid BC Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract
Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and Conflict Resolution Certificate
Physician’s note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test
Positive behavior supports experience
WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates an asset
