Metro supplies services to all industries in the consumer-packaged goods, retail, automotive, fashion, and e-commerce sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month end procedures through cost reallocation, accruals, payroll and other standard journal entries
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, analyze and query discrepancies, and communicate same to Business Unit Managers
  • Prepare customer reconciliations to track actual versus budgeted spend, and be able to identify and explain the source of material variances
  • Assist Senior Management with month end financial reporting including variance analysis, preparing sections of financial reports for Operational review
  • Assist with forecasting and the annual budget process
  • Produce ad hoc financial analysis related to the ongoing financial operations of the organization – trend analysis, customer sales and profitability, building facility cost
  • Assists with year-end audit preparations; liaise with Corporate office and Senior Management during audit review to provide any necessary backup required
  • Compliance with government regulations – assist with workers compensation and EHT filing
  • Other accounting duties as necessary in a time efficient manner

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Enrolled in the CPA program
  • 3 years plus of full cycle accounting experience, preferably in Supply Chain environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi task with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
  • Go getter, self- motivated with the dynamic ability to be able to want to learn
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail is required
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • High level of proficiency with Excel
  • Great Plains experience an asset
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced, changing environment with flexibility to work extra hours

Job Duties:

  • Monitoring company accounts and conducting quarterly reviews
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Preparing financial statements (e.g. balance sheet, P&L, statement of cash flows)
  • Cost reduction proposals
  • Conducting audits to ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Reviewing and maintaining internal controls processes and systems
