Positive Living Niagara is a community-based organization made up of dedicated and caring staff and volunteers. We are committed to providing support, education and advocacy to all who are affected or at risk of HIV. We are seeking a summer student who will provide a range of supports for various fundraising programs at Positive Living Niagara.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to the agencies current fund development and fundraising initiatives
  • Offer a broad range of administrative and program supports to the clients, volunteers and staff of Positive Living Niagara in the promotion and planning of the agencies fund development activities.
  • Adhere to the Mission Statement and Policy and Procedures of Positive Living Niagara.
  • Provide in office and evening outreach services
  • Ensure proper records and inventory are kept
  • Provide verbal and written messages on IDU, HIV / AIDS, HCV, STBBI and high-risk behaviours
  • Distribute harm reduction and prevention materials: ie Information Condoms, water kits, syringes
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designate

Duties:

  • Facilitate outreach activities in the community with regards to HIV, Hep C and Harm Reduction
  • Assist in organizing events and maintaining program specific files/records.
  • Assist in the marketing of fundraising programs.
  • Liaise with the community in promoting events
  • Provide reception/clerical functions as necessary.
  • To carry out other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

The incumbent will have experience gained through a college or university program in social or health services with experience in the community social services sector ideally within a harm reduction environment. The incumbent will hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record a have access to a reliable vehicle. The successful candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 30 and must have been a full-time student in the previous academic year and returning to full-time studies in the fall.

  • Knowledge of mental health and addictions
  • Accurate documenting, reporting and recording
  • Computer skill and knowledge
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • French language skills an asset
