Duties/Responsibilities:

Concepts and Brochures for preliminary design consultations including exterior elevations and interior floor plans
o Includes Electrical Brochure Plans for sales and Marketing
o Includes knowledge to implement cladding materials into Brochure drawings

Concepts and Site Plans for Land Development
o Including References to Zoning requirements, Urban Design Guidelines and completing calculations

Full-Sets of Working Drawings for Construction for both Residential and Commercial Construction that comply with OBC and local municipal By-Laws including the following:
o Architectural Details
o Site Plotting to Engineering Drawings and review of such drawings
o Preparing Permit Packages and gathering all required drawings and information from 3rd parties such as HVAC Design, Structural Letters, Mech/Electrical Drawings etc.

Revisions to Existing plans for Purchasers and design center in regard to customization within units, both architectural and electrical revisions

As-Built Drawings for both Residential and Commercial products

Create, Maintain and Continuously improve designs, plan layouts, structural design which comply with OBC and Municipal By-Laws, while staying consistent with current trends and customer demands

Promote Construction Efficiency

Coordinate documents with other disciplines analyzing potential risks and conflicts

Material Take-Offs including but not limited to lumber, brick and steel to send for material orders

Requirements:

Work Experience & Education:

Minimum of 3 years of experience with a new home builder, and experience in Land Development

Must have Architectural technician degree as a minimum, Technologist Preferred

Specific Skillset Requirements:
Drafting; proficient in AutoCAD
o Single Homes
o Attached homes
o Subdivision Plans
o Servicing Drawings
o Condos in an asset
o Commercial buildings is an asset
- BCIN
- Thorough Knowledge of OBC (Ontario Building Code) and Navigating the OBC Sections
- Knowledge of better building practices and staying up to date on latest code changes, so that we can inform construction department coworkers of changes to the OBC and Ottawa zoning requirements
- Knowledge of energy efficient building practices is an asset.
- Follow up and resolve issues raised by consultants, our construction team, and the City of Ottawa upon plan review
- Collaborate openly with all required departments including; sales, construction and development
- Ability to oversee the work of Junior technologists.

Job Type: Full-time

COVID-19 considerations:
We currently have all of our in office employees working remotely, we are currently developing a plan to phase in everyone returning to the office.

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (Preferred)
