We are currently seeking a full time Business Development and Marketing Specialist to lead a variety of business development, marketing and communications projects in support of the Hamilton office. This role also serves as an advisor and facilitator for firm news and media relations for the office.


Support the Business Development and Marketing Manager with the development and execution of business development and marketing initiatives.
In collaboration with the firm proposal team, assist in the preparation and development of proposals, RFP responses, customized pitches and other business development presentations, including collecting relevant content, formatting, scheduling and supervising production and delivery of copies.
Assist with the tracking and reporting of business development and marketing/communications activities within the office.
In collaboration with the firm business development team, assist the Business Development and Marketing Manager in the delivery and presentation of business development coaching material to professionals, as requested or as part of firm wide training initiatives.
Play a lead role in editorial projects. Write and edit communications pieces that convey key messages, reflect the Gowling WLG brand and resonate with target audiences; these include news releases, website content, executive communications, intranet stories, professional biographies, social media posts, advertising copy, articles, reports, guides, publications, award submissions, scripts, speeches and more, while working collaboratively with the National Communications Team.
Develop and execute business development, marketing and communications plans that drive brand engagement and preference and achieve firm objectives.
Play a lead role in developing concepts and copy for regional, national and global advertising campaigns for the Hamilton office.
Ensure standards are met for the firm’s visual identity and branding for the department, all the while working collaboratively with the National Creative and Design Team.
In collaboration with and where approved to do so by the firm communications team, liaise with local media and lead the office’s media relations activities, including vetting media requests for possible conflicts, writing pitches, preparing media advisories and reporting on results.
Manage the newsletters and content calendar for the Hamilton office.
Develop and monitor the Hamilton office business development and marketing budget alongside the Business Development & Marketing Manager.
Provide support for the recruitment and management of cooperative staff/student interns.
General business development and marketing support as required.
Any other duties as required.

Post-secondary degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field.
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, public relations or related role.
Exceptional client service skills focused on results and client satisfaction.
Strong interpersonal skills, tactfulness and solid networking skills in order to maintain and establish key partnerships and alliances.
Excellent writing, editing and research skills, with superior knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and style (Canadian Press); must have a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.
Solid project management skills, ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
Highly motivated, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability and responsiveness.
High level of attention to detail.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience within a professional services firm is an asset.
