Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Supply Chain Manager to be responsible for the overall supply of raw materials, developing opportunities to integrate up-stream, tolling services, optimization of our production manufacturing schedule and sequencing wheel, raw materials & finished goods inventory management, Sales and Operations Planning and inbound/outbound logistics services at our “green” specialty chemical manufacturing facility. Reporting to the VP Operations, a key initial goal will be to dramatically reduce the cost of our raw materials by developing strategic partnerships and unique supply channels.

The duties of this role will include the following:

Raw Materials Supply Management

  • Developing strategic relationships with suppliers to find the most cost-effective solutions, quality products and a commitment to service excellence
  • Expanding supplier network for recycled plastics feedstocks
  • Coordinate with Quality and Operations – trials for new materials
  • Manage ongoing supplier performance and rating based on KPI’s related to cost, quality and delivery
  • Negotiating with external vendors to secure the most advantageous terms
  • Working closely with R&D to support strategic sourcing initiatives to meet product development requirements for customer product expectations

Strategic Purchasing

  • Developing new strategic concepts to reduce the cost of raw materials
  • Develop co-processing opportunities for raw materials that require additional processing for use
  • Develop internal processing alternatives to vertically integrate plastics processing within the company
  • Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Controlling spend and building a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  • Researching buying markets in order to source the most optimal suppliers, in accordance with corporate objectives
  • Remaining abreast of pricing trends, changes, restrictions, or any other variables that could affect purchasing strategies
  • Participating in recycling industry associations to cultivate supplier networks and stay ahead of emerging material trends
  • Balance the risks associated with the Supply Chain, current plans, options and develop contingencies to mitigate them

Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP)

  • Manage the ERP system in conjunction with Finance
  • Coordinate supply chain activities in all aspects of the source-plan-make-deliver sequence
  • Drive standardization, simplification and speed across the supply chain
  • Develop and manage minimum inventory levels for raw materials
  • Develop and manage inventory levels for finished goods
  • Manage the production schedule

Sales & Operations Planning

  • Liaise with Sales & Operations to plan production for future Sales needs based on 16-week forecast
  • Manage the monthly Sales & Operations Planning process

Transportation & Logistics

  • Manage and optimize inbound/outbound logistics of raw materials & finished goods
  • Develop and manage logistics partners to reduce risk and manage costs for on-time delivery to customers
  • Leads cross-functional integration and communication of supply chain plans with all departments

Skills & Experience
The following are the combination of skills & experiences that are preferred for this role:

  • Minimum of (5) years’ experience in contracts, procurement, supply chain, logistics (preferred)
  • Engineering or operational experience
  • Designation in Supply Chain Management/Procurement (preferred)
  • Experience in freight/logistics sourcing (preferred)
  • Understanding and experience in plastics recycling processes
  • Strategic thinking/troubleshooting skills
  • Exposure to operationalizing internal “make” decisions
  • Knowledge of recycled plastic sourcing and procurement network (preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience with warehousing and inventory control (preferred)
  • Experience in environments with consistent pressure to continually improve cost position by looking at price, specifications and demand, while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Experience in developing/executing contracts (preferred)
  • Advanced negotiation and networking skills (preferred)
  • Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a strong sense of initiative
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written (in English)
  • Solid knowledge Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint suite
