The Manager, Financial Administration and Accounting reports to the Senior Director, Financial Administration and Accounting, in Toronto and works closely with the other Managers, Financial Administration and Accounting located in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary. The incumbent is responsible for the integrity of the accounting, billing and reporting for the portfolio under his management.
Main duties will include:
Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and management to a team of Senior Property accountants, operational accounting;
Responsible for the planning, setting objectives and management of financial accounting, and billing process as set out in the calendar/schedule;
Participate in the establishment, periodic review, implementation and adherence to the policies, controls and procedures; as well as continuous process and efficiency review, with a view to creatively resolving issues;
Liaise with various stakeholders (internally and externally) on related tasks and projects;
Management of the following processes – Internal site reviews, gift cards, special projects, integrity and structure of companies in J.D. Edwards (JDE);
Responsible for the activities related to the Monthly processes:
Maintain and ensure the integrity of accounting records, assets and cost centres;
Responsible for the accuracy of the property results and consolidation process;
Manage the billing process;
Manage the reporting and results process;
Cash management and cashflow forecast;
Capital expenditure review and control;
Review of the co-owner reporting;
Assist the Directors in the management of Year-end processes, such as the management of the external audit process and be responsible for the completeness, integrity and accuracy the year end file and the internal and statutory financial statements including Operating Costs Statements.
Assist the Directors in the management of the budget process and be responsible for the completeness, integrity and accuracy of the forecast and budget for their assigned portfolio;
Responsible for various special projects, such as the management of tenant audits and disputes, the management of properties financial control reviews, capital transactions statement of adjustments and the management of sales tax audits;
Planning, management and execution of all billing related functions, such as monthly recurring billings, consolidated year end billing, utility (consumption) billing, percentage rent billing and answer tenant enquiries and tenant dispute;
Responsible for the activities related to systems such as the coordination of JD Edwards enhancements and be a subject matter expert related to JDE and MS Office (specifically Excel).
Professional accounting designation (CPA);
A minimum of five years of relevant management experience;
Strong management and team leadership experience
Experience in a complex multiple entity business environment;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including advanced level of Excel;
Excellent analytical skills and superior problem-solving abilities;
Excellent command of English (written and spoken); proficiency in French (written and spoken) is an asset;
Team spirit, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with high quality standards;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Self motivated, autonomous, high energy individual with a positive management attitude;
Experience in commercial real estate industry is an asset;
JD Edwards and Power BI is an asset.
