We are currently searching for an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team, located in Richmond BC. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Chef, Culinary and will be an integral part of our Culinary team. The main responsibilities for this role will be:

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Providing leadership, direction and mentoring to the Culinary Operations
  • Assisting in planning, directing and implementing food preparation, purchasing and presentation policies and procedures
  • Assisting with the implementation of new programs, projects, F&B outlet openings in conjunction with the Executive Chef
  • Interviewing, hiring, training and developing Sous Chefs for the various culinary operations; planning, assigning, and directing work; managing performance; rewarding and providing feedback to Sous Chefs; addressing complaints and resolving problems with Management and Team Members
  • Assisting in preparing and cooking a variety of cuisines for various outlets, using skill, creativity, and cost effective methods
  • Developing and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and employees)
  • Assisting in the training and development of Culinary Team Members in all areas of food operation
  • Training and ensuring the ongoing practice of safe food handling and preparation techniques
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Contribute to developing daily specials and menu development
  • Assisting in maintaining budgeted labour and food costs
  • Assisting with month end inventories as directed
  • Assisting with Departmental HR requirements as needed
  • Working closely with Executive Chef and F&B Manager to maintain successful food and beverage operations
  • Manages other initiatives as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in culinary management
  • Knowledge of Optimum Control an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example
  • Culinary education required
  • Red Seal certification, current enrollment in the program an asset
  • High school diploma
  • Food Safe Level 2 certification
  • A passion for providing a Great Experience and Memory to all guests, both external and internal
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective, and service oriented communication
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Handle a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment, and work under pressure and meet deadlines with particular attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal service skills, organization skills to plan time effectively, and work without direct supervision
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to provide leadership in a team environment and motivating, developing, and sharing in the successes of the team

As we operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you must be able to work a flexible schedule, including graveyards, weekends and holidays, up to 40 hours a week. The hours of work are based on operational and business needs.
