Shane Homes Ltd., a leading residential production home builder, constructing quality new homes in premier communities throughout Calgary & Airdrie has an opportunity to join its Design and Drafting team.
The ideal candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic, multi-tasking architectural technologist with excellent organizational and communication skills ready to work in a vibrant, busy environment.
A minimum of 4 years of residential drafting experience in the Canadian construction industry is a necessity. The candidate must work well independently and as part of a project team. They also must be capable of mentoring less experienced team members. Consideration will be given to candidates with AutoCAD and/or Revit experience.
As an Architectural Technologist you will have the following responsibilities:
- Prepare a complete set of working drawings, including plot plans
- Have the flexibility to work on a full range of product types: single family homes, zero lot lines, duplexes and fee simple row houses
- Work as part of a specialized project team to develop duplex and/or townhome projects
- Design innovative floorplans and elevations
- Maintain familiarity with architectural and interior design trends and contribute to pushing the design envelope at Shane Homes
- Strong knowledge in structural design will be considered an asset.
- Possess a solid understanding of the residential construction process, building materials, permit processes, etc.
- Have a solid understanding of the 2014 A.B.C. and current land use bylaws for Calgary and Airdrie
- Able to create new complete construction details as requested
- Review contract documents and customer redlines to make customer changes to standard plans
- Review & understand Architectural control guidelines.
- Communicate changes and/or errors effectively to Area Managers.
- Provide complete work order packages to estimators.
- Prepare preliminary plot plans of lot and house.
