Golder has a new opportunity for Archaeology Field Technicians to join our Environmental Permitting and Monitoring team on a contract basis based in either Mississauga, Whitby, London or Ottawa.

This posting is for an hourly position.

Schedule:
The field program is anticipated to begin as early as mid- to late April 2020 and is expected to conclude in December 2020.

An overview of your role will include:
Provide technical services in a field environment
Carry out archaeological test pit and pedestrian survey, hand excavation of test units, and mitigative excavation in a Professional Cultural Resources Management setting (Stage 2 – 3 archaeological assessments and Stage 4 mitigations);
Conduct archaeological fieldwork in a variety of work environments; outdoors in all weather conditions with overnight stays during out-of-town projects (double occupancy);
Participate in a team environment;
Work with and provide support to other field technicians and assist with field activities as required;
Maintain a high standard of ethical and professional behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrate a commitment to our Destination Culture;
Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and act as a role model to other staff; and
Perform other duties as required.

You will have a background in:
Two to three years of an Archaeology, Anthropology or related degree from a recognized program;
At least one year of previous experience in Ontario archaeological fieldwork is an asset;
The ability to observe and practice good field methodology at a brisk pace;
Knowledge of Ontario material culture is an asset;
Access to transportation and valid driver's licence;
Good written and verbal communication skills;
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
Ability to carry out strenuous physical activity, including prolonged walking in agricultural fields and heavy lifting; and
Ability to work flexible hours and willing to participate in out-of-town projects (double occupancy) when required.
