Under the direction of the Assistant Registrar, Admissions, the Admissions Officer provides service-oriented support for prospective students and applicants to TRU. Admission Officers process applications for admission, conduct admission assessments and validate admission documents according to established University policies and procedures. Admission Officers communicate with internal and external contacts regarding admissions and registration for all TRU programs and services.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes applications for admission to TRU programs in accordance with Senate approved policies and established internal procedures. This includes assessing a student’s qualifications, calculating admission averages, validating documents and making admission decisions.
Responds to in-person, in writing or phone inquiries about TRU programs and services, admissions and registration.
Supports and assists with the registration process for TRU students. This includes self-service, email and in-person registration processes.
Drafts and generates various forms of communication, including email and letter, under the direction of the Assistant Registrar, Admissions.
Maintains current knowledge of Senate approved policies and related procedures, admissions and registration procedures, TRU Calendar content, transfer credit policies, and applies them in day to day operations.
Modifies and maintains information packages/brochures for admissions and registration.
Enters data into an enterprise relational database.
Assists in the generating of admission decision letters.
Processes application fee payments.
Compiles and distributes reports both internally and externally; assembles and maintains resource material including procedure manuals, handbooks.
Maintains confidentiality of documents and student records.
Assists in the training of other staff.
Provides administrative support such as, but not limited to, producing notices, staff meeting and training notes.
Assistant Registrar, Admissions
Associate Degree, two-year diploma, or equivalent post-secondary education
Four (4) years related experience in a post-secondary institution or related environment, including 1 year experience with enterprise relational database and conducting assessments within defined guidelines
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB
Demonstrated ability to perform electronic word processing
Typing speed of 45 wpm
Demonstrated ability to accurately enter data into an enterprise relational database
Ability to work well under pressure
Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to use policy and departmental procedures to conduct daily duties and to identify and solve day-to-day issues
Ability to operate basic office equipment such as printers, scanners, fax machine, and photocopier
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to develop and provide reports as requested
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Sitting at desk and computer for long periods of time as well as counter work
General office conditions
Occasional lifting and moving boxes and bins up to 10 kg.

The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
CUPE Grade 07 $26.71
This Position is not subject to a 90% start rate for new Employees.
