POSITION: Payroll Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Human Resources & Payroll Manager

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Payroll Coordinator at the SMG managed Avenir Centre. The Payroll Coordinator provides administrative support to staff and is responsible for the processing of the bi-weekly payroll for multiple SMG managed centers. It is required of this position to maintain discretion and respect in the handling of all payroll related matters regardless of level of significance.


  • Collect bi-weekly time-sheets for hourly employees for multiple SMG centres.
  • Review time-sheets for accuracy of calculations. Assure all transactions are properly supported and are in accordance with SMG’s pertinent policies and procedures.
  • Import/transmit all data entry into ADP payroll, including, but not limited to, balancing, reviewing preliminary reports and loading/receiving all payroll files.
  • Distribute appropriate payroll reports to corresponding departments.
  • Record and track all vacation, personal and sick leave for full-time staff.
  • Prepare Record of Employment and submit them electronically to Service Canada.
  • Calculate monthly payments to WSIB and WorkSafeNB and submit requisitions for payment.
  • Prepare Employee’s T4 and year end processing.
  • Answer any inquiries in regards to payroll.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Post-Secondary education in a related field. Recent graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification considered an asset.
  • Ability to work under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Knowledge of accounting and operational controls.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (French and English) required.


  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ADP payroll system.
