We are building a world class procurement function comprised of three functional pillars; (1) Strategic
Sourcing focused on our enterprise impacting category strategies and sourcing execution, (2)
Procurement Operations providing exceptional support and advisement to our business unit
stakeholders on a daily basis, and (3) Procurement Center of Excellence leading development and
enhancement of our governance, data analytics and digital toolkit that collectively strives to enable
procurement best practices and excellent end-user experience.
These positions are part of our Strategic Sourcing pillar and are our first Strategic Sourcing Manager
positions with a location preference for our Home Office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. For the right
candidate, we are open to individuals working from one of our locations in Regina, Calgary, Edmonton,
and Winnipeg. Working out of one of these locations would require regular travel to Saskatoon.

What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Director, Procurement the Strategic Sourcing Managers will be responsible and
accountable for creating and executing end-to end category strategies that deliver the required goods
and services to FCL stakeholders in accordance with the Procurement functions objectives of
maximizing organization value, providing exceptional customer service and being innovative and
creative business partners for both internal and external stakeholders.
- You will execute strategies within assigned spend categories that are part of our Goods
and Services for Own Use (GFSOU) stream. GFSOU includes operating and capital
expenditures of FCL, as well as specific impactable spend for its local Co-ops.
Categories to be managed include IT (Hardware/Software/Services), Transportation and
Logistics, Engineering and Professional Services, MRO supplies, Industrial and
Engineered Equipment, etc.
- You will foster exceptional relationships with your category stakeholders ensuring the
developed strategies deliver the maximum lifecycle value and meet business
requirements. This will require exceptional influencing and negotiation ski
- You will be a market expert and fully utilize the FCL procurement toolkit of market
intelligence tools as well as a strategically developed supplier network to deliver the most
innovative and modern solutions and suppliers for the consideration of your stakeholders.
- You will utilize data and analytical tools to support the identification of opportunities and
to action them for the resulting expected positive impact on organizational value.
Understanding the impact of your strategy on reducing the total cost of ownership of the
goods and services to FCL is critical to success.
- You will leverage and work closely with the Procurement Center of Excellence to
develop, deploy and enhance procurement governance and digital tools to support
advancing the procurement transformation at FCL.
Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Procurement and/or Supply Chain and:
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or
- You have a minimum of 6+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience in
strategic sourcing, category management, supply management, supplier management (a
combination of relevant education and experience may be considered). Excellent
candidates with lesser experience may be considered as more junior-level hires and
assigned categories of lower scope and complexity than major categories.
- You have experience using leading practices for managing spend
- You have experience utilizing digital spend management and souring tools (preferred).
- Strong verbal communication skills are required including being comfortable leading and
presenting to large groups of stakeholders.
- High degree of confidence in negotiation of both commercial and legal contractual terms
is an asset.
- You have certificates in procurement, supply management, inventory management,
Lean/Six Sigma, or operational planning. A MBA/Master’s degree in Business, Supply
Chain Management, Finance, or Operations Management is an asset.
