The Surface Finish (plating/special processing) area of the Oakville, ON, Landing Gear manufacturing site is structured as a value stream where functions such as maintenance and engineering work directly for the work group and indirectly for their function. In this position, you will report directly to the Process Manager of Surface Finishing and indirectly to the faciltiies/maintenance department and any corporate capital project leadership. As the Project Engineering Specialist, you will lead the project management of all current and future capital projects for the surface finish area. In these projects you will partner with cross functional groups within, and beyond the surface finishing/plating department to successfully plan and coordinate multiple large-scale projects to ensure that the surface finishing area is constantly at world class levels of performance, technology, and efficiency.This will include periodic large transformation/modernization projects as well as continual monitoring of the age and performance of all capital assets to determine and manage appropriate smaller scale refurbishment and replacement projects.
Oversee all capital equipment within surface finish for age, condition, performance, efficiency, flow, etc.
Establish, manage, and execute multiple complex project plans within the surface finishing/plating area in order to ensure the area/dept. is continually performing at world class levels by meeting site commitments

Ensure that all current and future projectsare aligned and consider one another

Perform ROI calculations to ensure that projects and technologies provide an appropriate return in performance/efficiency/safety quality, etc. to make them viable
Ensure safety/environmental/quality/ITC/regulatory policies are met throughout the projects and lifecycles of the equipment
Provide technical expertise in all aspects of the projects, specifically equipment and technologies
Facilitate project team events and meetings
Manage project communications - Prepare and present regular project report outs/ updates within the site (all levels) and to executive leadership
Manage the suppliers and third party contractors assigned to the projects
Vendor/ Contractor selection
Information sharing and off-site activity
Ensure compliance to any safety, environmental, quality, ITC, and other regulations
Foster strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency and credibility.
Support special projects and perform other duties as required.
Bachelor of Engineering Degree required (chemical/manufacturing/mechanical preferred)
7+ years experience in managing multiple complex projects within a manufacturing environment required
Demonstrated successful execution of $15M+ capital projects required
Project Management Professional designation strongly preferred.
Professional Engineering designation strongly preferred.
Strong technical experience in a surface finishing/plating/chemical processing environment required.
Demonstrated ability to create and execute project plans to achieve specific goals within tight timelines.
Excellent organization, communication and relationship building skills.
Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
Expert computer skills
Excel (Including formulas, macros, and pivot tables)
Powerpoint (including strong experience in preparing Exec level presentations)
Ability to work under pressure within tight time constraints.
