Owl River Environmental Services Ltd. is a small company servicing the upstream oil and gas industry in Northern Alberta.
Owl River Environmental began operation under new ownership in 2016 and is based in Lac la Biche.
Owl River Environmental Services Ltd. is looking to fill a casual Safety Coordinator position. This position will allow for a flexible work schedule. This position also allows the safety coordinator to work from home, attending the office as requested/required. At this time, the anticipated hours per week is estimated at 4 hours.
Reporting to the President, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for having the primary role of developing and implementing safety training programs within Owl River and further refinement of the Owl River Environmental Health and Safety Management System. This role will work very closely with all employees of Owl River to advance these priorities.
Proficient knowledge of computers, Word and Excel computer programs.
Knowledge of ISNetworld, OH&S, ComplyWorks, Workhub, Alberta Safety Council.
Experience with safety in the heavy equipment, forestry, and oil and gas industries.
Experience working in an office atmosphere.
Work with the President to review methods of delivery and third party training vendors.
Manage the improvement of the Owl River EH&S Management System through policy review and
Assemble a reference library of EH&S information that is accessible to all staff.
Prepare educational tools to reinforce Safety as a Core Value at Owl River.
Communicate appropriate EH&S related information on an accurate and timely basis.
Mentor supervisors in areas of EH&S performance.
Monitor and analyze safety trends and implement programs.
Maintain and update contractor safety management systems (such as ISNetworld).
Assist management in organizing and conducting incident investigations.
Encourage overall hazard identification and reporting, as well as immediate reporting of all incidents and near miss incidents by all personnel.
Ensure review of all formal hazard assessments:
Coordinate personnel orientation(s) and other job specific required training for those commencing employment.
Coordinate, assist, and complete EH&S Management System audits.
Organize and issue EH&S reports as required.
Safety Certificates: First Aid
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
Occupational Health & Safety Certificate/Diploma from a recognized institute.
