We are currently looking for a Data Architect for one of our opportunities in the Greater Toronto Area.

Our client is looking for a Data Architect with a minimum ten (10) years of IT experience - preferably including five (5) years of information and data architecture experience, and five (5) years of data warehouse design.

It is important that the Services be undertaken by a Data Architect who can demonstrate specific knowledge of, and experience in performing similar work for projects of comparable nature, size and scope as detailed below.

Responsibilities:
Review business and data requirements and interpret these into an architectural design that is aligned to the clients target state architecture. Create and document future state architectural options to address specific issues or initiatives. Acts as subject matter expert, makes recommendations, and provides technical counsel as necessary. Ensure that architectural solution aligns with future state vision.
Develop data standard architecture deliverables (Conceptual architecture, logical architecture, reference architectures, architecture decisions) for large, medium-to-high complexity, projects that describes the business context for the initiative and will include the relevant application, business, data architecture components that will make up the entire solution
Collaborates with integration team to define and implement standards for design and development and utilization of appropriate methodologies. Design and develop processes for source data ingestion, transformation, and database loading. Provides expertise in data modeling, SQL reporting and data management.
Drive design, coding and other technical standards development and ensures adherence to the standards in the domain.
Analyze metadata to include business descriptions of the data, details of any calculations and summaries, descriptions of the sources, and indications of data quality and currency.
Lead resolution of data challenges in an enterprise environment.
Provide architecture governance to ensure that the agreed design is followed throughout the lifecycle of the project and is actively involved when variations occur
Develop presentation material for reviews with business, ELT and Governance Committees
Provides Architecture artifacts and performs reviews of other’s
Ensure that solutions leverage published standards and architecture patterns, and assist with development of new patterns/standards when required
Meet and interface with business and IT managers on data architecture deliverables
Lead role in developing the vision for a target state data architectures. Develops and provides guidance to team on Reference/Enterprise Solution architectures
Develop Solution Delivery Approach for medium-to-high complexity Intakes and Business Case estimation

Requirements (experience/skills/clearance):
Solid understanding of Data Architecture and Data Management approaches and implementation methodologies
Must have very good understanding of data warehouse methodologies including design patterns, data mapping, data integration, data testing and application performance tuning.
Excellent knowledge/experience with SQL.
Proficient in relational database management systems (RDBMS), data architecture, data modeling (including dimensional), data warehousing, Object Oriented Methodologies, and Client/Server development
Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL), Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Leadership experience in the development and implementation of information/data architecture.
Sound knowledge of architecture for: Business, Application, Integration, Security, Implementation and Migration.
Experience with business vision, strategy and roadmaps
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal, consensus building and negotiation skills; cost/benefit analysis
Demonstrated commitment and proven ability to do effective stakeholder management.
A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
Experience in developing architecture specifications for RFPs and participates in assessing bids and negotiating contracts/SLAs with service providers and vendors
Strong oral and writing skills in English

Other Requirements:
Experience with working on $10M+ multi-year projects, in government settings or similar complex, multi-project/multi-client organizations;
Has participated in data conversion activities migrating legacy data sources
Experience with Enterprise Architect tooling
Solid understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Experience in the use of data and process modelling methodologies, techniques and tools, including a working knowledge of metadata structures, repository functions, and data dictionaries
Strong knowledge of structured, unstructured and semi-structured data
Experience using data technologies to implement Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality, Data Lakes, Big Data, Data Analytical tools, Internet of Things (IoT), Enterprise Content Management
Experience in cloud-based delivery models and capabilities (i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate architectural concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
High level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity
High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision
