The Royal Conservatory (RCM) is one of the largest and most respected music education institutions in the world, providing the definitive standard of excellence in curriculum design, assessment, and teacher certification. The Performing Arts Division is presenting more than 95 concerts in the 2019.20 season, including international classical, jazz, pop, and world music artists, as well as Conservatory faculty and students. Concerts take place at one of the world’s finest concert halls, Koerner Hall, and two other concert venues in the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning.


The Performing Arts Marketing Coordinator’s role is to coordinate marketing, engagement, and outreach initiatives that build relationships and generate concert ticket sales revenue, and to coordinate the administrative details of Performing Arts marketing. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Performing Arts, this is a position for an energetic, extremely organized, creative, analytical, very detail-oriented, positive and self-motivated can-do individual with some arts/music marketing experience and solid digital marketing experience.

Digital Marketing

Coordinate and maintain performance web site and mobile app content, ensuring that both are up to date and accurate at all times

Coordinate the Koerner Hall Facebook Page, including content postings, promoted posts, and advertising

Coordinate email marketing: newsletters, segmented email marketing campaigns, special offers, promotions, subscriber benefits notifications, season launches, on sale dates, and others.

Track and report on web site and email analytics

Coordinate uploads and promotion of videos on YouTube

Coordinate indoor digital signage and outdoor marquee signage

Promotions & Outreach

Initiate and coordinate outreach marketing to engage community groups, organizations, and others

Coordinate marketing exchanges with other arts organizations, including tracking and reporting

Coordinate “Welcome to the Neighbourhood” campaigns

Research and develop databases of contacts in specified community, industry, and interest groups

Coordinate promotional tables at the RCM and other venues/events, coordinate content, and represent and promote the RCM at the tables

Marketing & Communications Coordination

Coordinate complimentary tickets for media sponsors, contests, marketing promotions, etc.

Coordinate house program insertions and maintain tracking

Coordinate brochure and flyer distribution internally, to partners, and to distribution manager

Monitor and track brochure and flyer inventory

Coordinate marketing archives

Maintain email scheduling plan

Coordinate charity requests for tickets

Assist with details of special campaigns

Subscriber Benefits

Coordinate subscriber emails, including presale announcements and subscriber benefits notifications

Coordinate Intermission Reception planning, invitations, and subscriber attendance tracking


Recruit and supervise administrative interns

Process invoices, filing, and billing

Maintain accurate budget spreadsheet updates

Assist with other marketing administration as required

Internal Communication & Reporting

Keep Director of Marketing, Performing Arts informed and provide suggestions and reports as required

Attend regular meetings with the Director of Marketing, Performing Arts

Work collaboratively with box office, RCM social media, administrative interns, and other team members

Assist Director of Marketing as requested

Minimum of 3 years arts, performing arts, or concert marketing experience – preferably more.

Experience with website maintenance and coordination.

Experience with email marketing. Experience with email segmentation and campaigns preferred.

Experience coordinating social media content and campaigns using Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and others.

Experience with marketing exchanges and outreach.

Extreme attention to detail

Excellent writing and editing skills

Fluency in digital environments, including email, website platforms, and social media

Intimate knowledge of Excel, including ability to use formulas

Positive, open-minded outlook

Ability to meet deadlines


Self-starter, initiative-taker, can-do attitude

Able to think and act independently, while also following instructions in detail

Ability to work in an open room with others
