Reporting to the North America HSE Director and Canada Human Resources Director is a key member of the plant leadership team, and is responsible for achieving all safety and human resources objectives as identified in the business plan. This position is responsible for the workforce within the Lapointe plant.
Lead by example for safety and always has a safety mentality ;
Lead manpower planning, recruitment, selection, hiring and retention of plant employees;
Maintain compliance with all Canadian and Quebec regulations concerning employment;
Participate in developing plant goals, objectives and systems;
Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all team members; assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures; prepares and maintains team member handbook and policies and procedures manual;
Coordinate the facility’s attendance and recognition programs and assists with the administration and implementation of facility HR and payroll policies and programs;
Support team member training and development programs;
Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to team members. Execute an inclusive wellness program;
Handle as needed team member counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing;
Maintains human resource information system, team member information files, and legal/regulatory filings;
Support and mentor team members initiatives when requested;
Plan team member morale building events and other positive employee relations activities;
Mentor Manufacturing Excellence teams for Talent Management and Communications;
Lead safety meetings;
Lead team members in the accident/incident investigation process;
Promote health and wellness, and manages workers compensation claims (CSST);
Lead the activities of the local Health and Safety committee and Emergency Response Team;
Maintains EHS programs and rules in accordance with Corporate and Canadian regulatory requirements. Benchmark and shares EHS and HR best practices;
Promotes GC health and safety initiatives (Consequence Thinking, Safestart, etc.);
Serves on the pension committee and works with the Canadian HR Manager on disability matters;
Develops and maintain systems and records for the training and development of all team members.

Solid General Business acumen.
Experience in Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing environments.
Bachelor Degree from accredited 4 year program.
Health, safety and environment technical degree combined with a university first cycle degree in Human resources
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
