Reporting to the Vice President, this Department Manager role is based in Toronto and is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Toronto Roads and Highways department. This senior position requires an absolute commitment; dedication to the growth and development of junior and intermediate staff; and a desire to take a leadership role within an established, privately held and employee owned consulting engineering firm.
Manage and lead the Toronto department
Oversee and ensure financial performance of the department
Oversee project managers to establish client needs and coordination of work
Demonstrate leadership to motivate and maximize individual performance
Take overall responsibility for the coordination of the delivery transportation projects with other Transportation Departments and other corporate business units.
Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and develop the department's technical and consulting excellence
Develop the client base and project experience of the department
Liaise with clients and promote the design capabilities of the department
Provide excellent customer service to our clients fostering repeat business
Develop new business for the Transportation department through business development activities
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent
Professional engineering registration with PEO
Proven management experience in the consulting engineering industry
Strong business acumen
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills combined with excellent oral written and presentation skills
Commitment to quality service excellence
Experience managing project financials and project deliverables
Minimum 10 years of post-registration experience leading planning and design projects
Strong working relationship with clients, both municipal and MTO
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
