Overview

The Production Planner will use their knowledge of the production process and machine capabilities to manage manufacturing requirements by maximizing efficiency and productivity while balancing customer and manufacturing requirements while minimizing supply chain costs. The Production Planner acts as a liaison between business operations and mill order management teams. This role requires frequent interaction with operations, customer service, sales, marketing and finance.

Accountabilities

Schedule machines and make schedule adjustments as needed to maintain the integrity of available dates specific to their own mill or related mills.
Maintain mill master schedules to ensure appropriate loading of machines by completing periodic analysis of machine loading practices.
Weigh tradeoffs of competing objectives in the scheduling process including: variable manufacturing costs, transition costs, logistics costs, pulp economics, availability and on-time delivery.
Determine trim requirements and create related programs
Apply available stock at mills to reduce production requirements and turn over inventory
Provide a planning perspective for input into the Sales and Operation planning process.
Maintain all production planning reporting & tools.
Actively pursue cost reduction opportunities through consistent use of all planning tools.
Support on time delivery through schedule maintenance and communication of orders in jeopardy to all key stakeholders.

Experience/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Emphasis in Business, Finance, or Math desirable.
Proven abilities in strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport with Catalyst’s Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain/Logistics organizations
Effective handling of large volumes of data and being able to multitask in order to manage time constraints
An ability to work independently and resolve issues with minimal guidance or supervision
A strong attention to detail as well as computer literacy, specifically in excel
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning and order fulfilment desired
SAP knowledge desired
