Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), the Secretary III is responsible for the effective, efficient and confidential provision of secretarial support for the Clinical Trials Unit. The incumbent duties include preparing, organizing, and maintaining various types of scheduling calendars, including electronic calendars, organize mail, and enter data. General duties include but are not limited to: payroll processing, ordering and tracking of all departmental supplies, work orders and maintenance requests; updating and maintaining various databases. The incumbent has the ability to coordinate workflow and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions; must exercise sound judgment, maintains confidentiality, and be willing to assume a variety of assignments as required. The candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to work independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision and be capable of carrying out the duties of this position with diplomacy, tact and professionalism. The successful incumbent must have the flexibility to move between the CancerCare Manitoba sites where clinical trials are active.

Qualifications:Required:
Successful completion of a recognized administrative or secretarial training program or the equivalent in education and experience as determined by CancerCare Manitoba
Proof of successful completion of 40s English course or equivalent
Minimum two years’ experience in a senior secretarial position
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
Satisfactory employment record
Must be able to legally work in Canada

Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, customer service and problem solving skills
Ability to adapt to stressful situations
Ability to liaise with staff at all levels in the organization and Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Will be assessed during the testing process:
Written communication skills – Written composition test (70% passing benchmark)
Medical Terminology Test (70% passing benchmark)
Computer keyboarding skills of 40 wpm with high degree of accuracy

Preferred:
College or undergraduate education
Experience working in a healthcare environment
Experience working in a unionized environment

Asset:
Ability to speak French
Salary: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

Minimum Language Requirements:
Applicants whose first language* is not English and who have not successfully completed a Manitoba Grade 12 40S English course or equivalent will be required to meet one of the following English language proficiency requirements:

TOEFL- a minimum of 550 (CBT-213) on the PBT (Paper-Based Test), or a minimum of 213 on the CBT (Computer-Based Test), or a minimum of 79-80 on the IBT (Internet-Based Test)

CanTest - a minimum band level of 4.5 in Reading and Listening, and 4.0 in Speaking and Writing

IEL TS - a minimum band of 6.5 in Reading, Listening, and Speaking, and a minimum of 6.0 in Writing

MELAB - a minimum final score of 80 with a minimum of 77 in Writing

CAEL- a minimum overall result of 60 with a minimum of 60 in Writing

Successful completion of AEPUCE (Academic English Program for University and College Entrance) offered through the University of Manitoba and Red River College
