POSITION OVERVIEW
This position involves working as a member of a team in the day to day manufacturing of electronics assembly product, and includes meeting all quality, safety and productivity objectives as set out by Dortec Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspects electronic components and assemblies to ensure adherence to IPC 610 requirements.
  • Visually verifies fine details (solder bridging, fine solder balls, lifted/bent pins, skewed/tilted various size components, insufficient/excessive solder joints, marking).
  • Proficient use of microscope, multimeter and other test related equipment.
  • Follow directions regarding inspected printed circuit boards.
  • Able to read values and correct polarity of Surface Mount components.
  • Recognizes Surface Mount Technology (SMT) related problems in the operation process or with components and communicates the findings immediately to the Production Supervisor and the SMT Operator.
  • Notifies the Production Team Leader or Supervisor in the event of a machine, fixture, assembly, or part problem.
  • Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of work (high concentration) during extended periods of time.
  • May rotate to and operate all machines in assembly.
  • May be required to hand assemble pieces or components as required. Manufacture parts as per the 'Standard Operating Sheet'.
  • Comply with company guidelines in regards to timeliness/absenteeism.
  • Upholds Magna Production System (MPS), principles of standardization, and one piece flow.
  • Performs above tasks as per customer requirements or production schedules.
  • Participates by providing Employee Involvement ideas (EI) on improvements to machinery, tooling, and assembly methods.
  • Must be aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how if affects quality and the environment for our customers.
  • Participates in the 5S program.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • No educational requirement.
  • 1 to less than 3 years of work related experience.
  • IPC 610 certification preferred.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) Knowledge an asset.
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency preferred
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Able to read values and correct polarity of Surface Mount components.
  • Comprehend the three main control factors of a production plant: NG (no good parts), DT (downtime), CT (cycle time).
  • Good Vision, must be able to sort and quality inspect by colour.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Conditions may cause minor stress or physical discomfort due to limited exposure to elements or frequent exposure to moderately disagreeable internal or external conditions. Typical conditions are such that a minor risk of injury or harmful effect is possible to self or others.
