Are you a proactive self-starter with the skills and experience to provide strategic advice and counsel as a member of Suncor’s Brand Strategy and Communications Services team? In this role, working closely with the Director of Brand Strategy and Communications Services, and the Chief Sustainability Office, you will lead a high performing team to enhance Suncor’s reputation through developing a fully integrated brand marketing and sponsorship program.
You will use your expertise to:
Oversee all marketing channels, including paid advertising, paid digital marketing, sponsorships and a robust events portfolio, and work with other team members in the communications function to properly integrate these channels to deliver the company’s communications strategy
Pilot our enhanced Calgary sponsorship strategy, ensuring all sponsorships drive meaningful visibility and employee engagement opportunities for the company and are deeply connected to the community
Improve sponsorship processes and communicate these improvements for sponsorship intake, assessment, activation and measurement
Oversee the development and maintenance of the company’s current story sharing portal (together.suncor.com), providing an engaging and interactive virtual place where audiences can interact with Suncor
Manage the development of an integrated advertising, events and sponsorship program in key areas where Suncor operates, working with regional Suncor teams and the Community Investment/Suncor Energy Foundation team
Develop and execute brand marketing campaigns in collaboration with your team and our brand agency
Lead all aspects of our company-wide events portfolio to ensure all events deliver an engaging and brand-appropriate experience and that our processes, approaches and technologies are evolving as quickly as our company is

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
12 years of experience in a Marketing and Communications position
A University degree in Communications, Public Relations Business, Marketing, or Business
A forward-thinking attitude, and experience managing others and building high performing teams
A self-directed personality, you are collaborative and co-creative with strong consultation, negotiation, relationship building, conflict management and problem solving skills
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong project management skills with experience in managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously, developing metrics and delivering measurable results

Experience in the oil and gas industry
Experience working in a large and complex organization
Professional association member and / or professional accreditation
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
Irregular hours may be required for external engagement, emergency on-call requirements and operations locations time zone differences
This position will require occasional travel
