Position Title: Animal Health Technician

Status: Temporary Full time (4-week contract with possible extension)

Hours: 40 hours per week, weekend and after-hours work may be required

At the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS), our mission is to deliver innovative programs and compassionate services that enhance the lives of pets in need and the people that care for them.

The GTHS is a non-profit charity that operates an animal center serving the south Georgian Bay region by providing shelter for homeless animals and adopting them to caring families. We offer innovative programs that enhance and support the human-animal bond. These programs include humane education, pet retention, access to veterinary medicine and animal transport for pets in need.

We are currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Animal Health Technician within our animal care team. This position is responsible for all aspects of animal health within the shelter. This will include overseeing medical intakes for felines and canines that are new to the shelter and ongoing health assessments.

Our ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a post-secondary education in Animal Science, Veterinary Technologies, Animal Care or a related field. Work experience within a veterinary hospital with a solid understanding of shelter medicine is required along with great team work, organizational and communication skills all complemented by a passion for animal welfare and a drive for a positive organizational culture.
