Junior Security Systems Administrator
Operate, maintain, deploy, and troubleshoot internal security systems, tools, software agents.
Work with vendors in supporting security systems in use
Interact with technical as well as non-technical people
Assist the security team in processing tickets under their responsibility
Assist the senior security team members in performing ad-hoc security related tasks
Participate in audits and RFP tasks (documentation and questionnaires)
Occasionally perform junior level security analyst duties (alerts monitoring, and follow related incident response processes and protocols)
Succeeding as a Junior Security Systems Administrator will require the following skills and abilitis :
Ability to learn specific security tools and understand associated architecture and communication mechanisms.
Clearly communicate both orally and written
Ability to perform methodical analysis and deductive reasoning
Understanding of basic security concepts
Experience with the Microsoft Windows platform in an Active Directory environment
Understanding of Active Directory concepts
Experience with Linux (basic level)
Ability to write scripts (basic level)
Understanding of networking basics: IP addressing, network ports, routing, subnets, VLANs, Wireless Access Points, VPN, firewall concepts
Willingness to learn and a quick learner. Our expectation is the candidate may not have all the knowledge listed but is willing to develop their knowledge and skill level with minimal supervision.
Autonomous and engaged: supervision will be provided, but initiative and resourcefulness is required.
Ability to follow guidelines and stay within the constraints of those guidelines. Some of the tasks are repetitive (methodical).
Communication: Comfortable with non-technical people. Be able to convey and simplify explanations or information for a non-technical audience
Flexible: Be willing to adapt to changing priorities
Willing to help outside working hours.
