Primary Purpose of Position:
The Buyer Lead leads, executes and evaluates purchasing activities, purchasing policies and strategy of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Purchasing Manager to plan and execute all purchasing processes
  • Assist in coaching, training and managing the performance of all Purchasing staff
  • Monitor all purchasing activities and design various cost-effective methods, ensuring flow on inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets turnover goals
  • Execute the negotiation of purchases requisitions/ orders. Adapt negotiation strategies to cope with new circumstances or issues that arise; Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
  • Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function. Ability to attend local and international relevant trade shows, seminars and webinars
  • Propose alternate arrangement the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization
  • Recommend cost-savings alternatives for Manager of Purchasing’s review/ consideration and source potential suppliers and maintain strong relationship with current ones
  • Execute and process claims against suppliers. Ensure the accurate processing of all debits/ damages, chargebacks and transfers based on Company policies and procedures
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Required Skills and Training:

  • Experience in Manufacturing Field is an asset
  • At least 3 years previous experience as a purchasing lead; direct handling of products, including evaluation of cost and quality of materials, equipment, products or services
  • Enhanced computer skills; ability to work with more complex software and systems. Training in ERP
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, multi-task and work under pressure
  • Proficient in the use of English language and multilingual is an asset
