Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst
Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst (Catalyst) helps Canadians and Canadian companies seize the opportunities and tackle the challenges of cybersecurity. The Catalyst collaborates with industry, governments and academic partners, and leverages the full expertise and capabilities of Ryerson University’s staff and faculty. The Catalyst is a not-for-profit corporation owned and operated by Ryerson University and based in Brampton, ON.
This Fall, the Catalyst will be launching a one-of-kind Cyber Range which will:
Deliver cutting edge, interactive cybersecurity training to enhance the skills of a broad group of learners including academic, industry and public sector;
Provide cross-sector, multi-disciplinary training in an interactive, simulated environment for individuals and team exercises;
Create and test different approaches and strategies by researching and engaging in real world scenarios in a safe and secure environment;
Provide opportunities to entrepreneurs looking to test their product and recalibrate as necessary to help ensure a market-ready product;
Afford opportunities for applied research and innovations in cyber operations
As the Cyber Range Trainer and Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cybersecurity synchronous and/or asynchronous training programs,workshops, scenarios, tools, and resources to targeted learners to enhance skill development and knowledge on cyber security practices for the Catalyst. Using your technical, research and analysis skills, you will test, collect metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to make recommendations and implement improvements and changes to systems, programs, processes, products, and services as required.
As the cybersecurity technical trainer, and subject-matter expert on Cyber Range products and services, you will lead the design, development and implementation of the Cyber Range infrastructure and platform including maintenance and administration. You will co-create, promote, and market the Cyber Range’s products and services to potential purchasers, targeted sector clients, entrepreneurs, and researchers to generate business, and create awareness of the Catalyst Cyber Range’s expertise and programming.
To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:
Completion of a Post-secondary degree is required in Computer Science/Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or an equivalent degree or related program; Masters’ degree is an asset;
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in system administration including scripting experience (Linux/Windows); Cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP); programming/scripting languages, with particular focus on Python
Experience delivering IT and cybersecurity instructional workshops
Experience developing eLearning strategies, instructional design, and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Content Management Systems (CMS)
Experience in the design, development, and maintenance of scenario-based and branching eLearning (e.g., Adobe Captivate) modules, including related instructional materials
Certifications in cybersecurity CISSP preferred. Consideration in certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator, AWS, Microsoft Azure Administrator and Google Cloud Platform.
Knowledge of instructional design methodology, principles, and adult learning theory including conducting a needs analysis to determine learning objectives
Knowledge of design, management and secure data, applications and infrastructure in the cloud and use of cybersecurity best practices, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of various technologies including XML, HTML, learning management systems (D2L, Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai, and others)
Ability to design and develop training workshops, learning aids, tools, technical scenarios targeted to corporate and professional audiences (technical, non-technical)
Strong technical knowledge of Internet technologies
Excellent presentation, facilitation, and demonstration skills
Superior project management, multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent oral and writing communication skills
Excellent conceptual thinking and design skills
Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble-shoot and resolve IT technology problems
Advanced Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premier Pro, etc.), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint), and e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline).
