Reporting to the Stables Director, the groom is responsible for the physical maintenance and well-being of the horses. THE JOB IS LOCATED IN NANJING, CHINA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in maintaining cleanliness of the stable and if necessary replace the Stablemen that are absent;
  • Provide preventive care and treatment prescribed by and under the supervision of the veterinary technician;
  • Maintain grooming equipment, the storage bags, or the blankets, protective equipment and any other equipment used for grooming and the well-being of horses;
  • Ensure the comfort and health of his group of horses (keeping the stalls clean and comfortable) throughout the day and before leaving at night;
  • Prepare horses for show and attend rehearsals, working closely with the manager and coordinator, warm the horses as instructed by their rider and cool down after their performance;
  • Accompany the horses in between cities and act as a Stableman and Groom during this period;
  • Prepare horses for their transport and ensure their well-being during and after their arrival in a new place;
  • Performs daily grooming (curry comb, stiff brush, soft brush, cloth, cure feet);
  • Ensure that the equipment of his horses is in order and clean (stables cover, mid-season cover, grooming equipment);
  • Ensure that the horses have their turn out;
  • Prepare the horse for shows (braid, washing, saddle);
  • Participate in backstage activities and rehearsals;
  • Prick the stalls in the afternoon (before dinner) or other appropriate time;
  • Participates in cleaning of the stables for the VIP customers (pick up the equipment at the end of the show and what is the ground during the show);
  • Before the end of your shift, after the show, the groom ensures that his horses have two full buckets of water, the litter is in the center, that the braids are done, they no longer have their protection equipment, and they are prepared to spend the night;
  • Participate in the tear down / set up of the installations and/or the horses transport;
  • Participate in loading / unloading of the supplies;
  • Other tasks regarding the maintenance of the stable and well-being of the horses.
