Responsible for meeting the resident’s nutritional needs and achieving overall satisfaction with meal services provided. Completion of other tasks such as sorting and washing dishes, cleaning the server, assisting with the assembly of items for meal service, prep work for the cook.
Experience in safe food handling and preparation (1 year preferred).
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Successful completion of the City of Winnipeg’s food handler certificate training program (Level 1).
Qualifications and Skills
Follow proper infection control procedures.
Knowledge and practice of safe handling and sanitary practice.
Must have knowledge of dietary guidelines as it pertains to therapeutic diets, and the ability to apply knowledge to responsibilities.
Positive interpersonal skills to promote optimum resident care.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc.
May be required to work in above and below normal temperatures.
Must be able to stand or walk most of the day. Be physically able to complete tasks involving lifting, bending, climbing ladders, maneuvering and pushing food carts.
May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
