The Prince Rupert Port, Canada's leading edge port in trade growth, maritime safety, environmental stewardship and community partnerships, invites applications from highly motivated individuals for the following new position:
Reporting to the Manager, Safety and Security and the Manager, Marine Operations, the Gateway Operator is responsible for the daily monitoring, reporting and operation of the PRPA Gateway.
The Gateway Operator conducts marine, security and road / rail operations duties with support and guidance from the Manager, Marine Operations and Manager, Safety and Security. The Gateway Operator is also responsible for various administrative tasks such as permit approvals, declarations of security, and the management of the harbour schedule.
The ideal candidate will possess some post-secondary education as well as two to five years' of customer service related experience and exercises good judgment when dealing with sensitive issues and confidential information.
In addition, the ideal candidate will also possess good spoken and written communications skills and will be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all level of employees. Mariner experience is an asset.
