FYidoctors is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant for a 15 month contract at our Home Office located in Calgary, AB.


It is an exciting and transformational time at our Company; we are seeking someone to join our Accounting team who will report to the Accounting Manager to be accountable for financial reporting, business analysis and mentoring within the accounting team.   • Prepare monthly financial statements, bank covenant calculations and quarterly MD&A.
  • Perform a variety of higher risk period-end closing procedures including preparing or approving of manual journal entries, working papers, and reconciliations to ensure data is critically assessed and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Analyze and reconcile variances between the general ledger, sub ledger and systems.
  • Assist management in the evaluation of periodic results, including explanations for the budget, forecast and prior year variances.
  • Identify and coordinate accounting research process with accounting team.
  • Assist in the implementation of acquisitions within financial reporting process.
  • Mentor and train the financial reporting team.
  • Lead/oversee the audit process with our external auditors.
  • Ensure internal control environment is adhered to, documented and continually assessed for its effectiveness. Recommend and implement improvements if necessary.
  • Assist in the completion of ad hoc or special projects throughout the business as required.
  • Look to continually improve standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Possession of a CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum of four years of accounting experience is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, health care, retail or service industry is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in French is an asset as a growing national organization with many French speaking colleagues.
  • The candidate is a professional, technically proficient, independent thinker who builds positive relationships and likes to have fun!
  • Able to set clear goals and establish accountabilities.
  • Sound judgement, thorough problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office products, specifically MS Excel.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership competencies: able to positively influence others, coach, mentor, support, provide feedback, create a positive work environment, and effectively direct work.
  • Possess advanced communication skills to provide guidance and/or instruction to all levels within the organization, adapts their information/style to the audience, and explains difficult issues clearly, and tactfully, to the appropriate audience.
  • A hard worker who has the ability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines for themselves in an environment with a high volume of activity, while being detailed, organized and thorough.
