Who You Are:
We are looking for an organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented Construction Site Superintendent based out of both our downtown Toronto and Burlington sites to assist in planning, executing and managing high profile residential real estate construction projects. The Site Superintendent will be managing the efforts of construction team members and third-party suppliers, sub contractors and consultants. You should possess strong negotiation skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and be customer focused. You are a leader with the ability to manage through change, strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks within a fast paced environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Supervising the construction project and all the operations on the site,
Ensuring that the quality of work and materials is upheld – Upholding Quality Assurance and Quality Control standards
Organizing and Supervising site staff, trades and contractors and ensuring that they are performing as required and reporting progress
Tracking/logging daily manpower on site and maintaining a project diary
Ensuring that the health and safety project plans and MOL requirements are implemented and followed
Ensuring that the budget is followed; work with the Project Manager in managing all Division 1 costs
Creating, Monitoring, and updating project schedules and ensuring the schedule and look ahead schedules are followed and provide updates to the Project Manager/Senior Management as required
General inspection of the trades and contractors and their performance and safety
Liaise with government inspectors on the standard requirements of the site
Ensuring the site office and construction documents are organized and maintained
Ordering materials as needed
What You Bring:
6+ years experience in construction as a Site Superintendent
Have a post secondary education in Business, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent (MBA and M. Eng. Preferred)
Have all necessary certifications like Working at Heights, WHIMIS, First Aid and Basics of Supervision
Possess thorough knowledge in designing and building large scale multi family construction projects
Able to read construction working drawings including and not limited to architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and landscape drawings
Have a thorough understanding of both high-rise and low-rise residential and commercial projects
Must have strong budgeting and scheduling skills. Aptitude with scheduling software and project management software is a must
A valid G driver’s license, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to various office locations
Nice to Have Skills:
Have taken courses or certifications in project management or have PMP designation
Experience or knowledge of Lean methodology
