As a Store Manager, you will be enrolled in our 6-month Accelerated Development Training Program. Upon completion, you will be able to apply for Store vacancies across Canada.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Implement, monitor and oversee the inventory flow, including the in-stock and ordering of merchandise, while protecting company assets by identifying opportunities to prevent shrink.
  • Manage overall financial performance. Utilize financial data to monitor resource allocation and drive quality operating procedures
  • Align business goals to company values. Identify strategies for continued business growth and execute ideas to achieve a competitive advantage.
  • Integrate customer needs and market trends into plans for capitalizing on business development and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide excellence in service to customers and meet their needs and expectations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures for proper compliance.
  • Take ownership of work and promote accountability to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with associates and managers to encourage excellence in performance and progress in their career.
  • Build an inclusive work environment by motivating others to be aware of and embrace diversity.
  • Use appropriate methods to help build and engage successful teams. Set the direction and structure for team members, while holding assistant managers accountable to same vision.
  • Ensure Strong Community Presence and reflect the needs of consumers (Store of the Community).

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be a highly successful leader, with minimum 5 years’ management experience in a high volume, fast paced grocery, wholesale or general merchandise retail business.

Ideally this individual will have led operations in a similarly complex organization that has undergone transformation and change. Expertise in merchandising will be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in managing P&L, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Ability to model Walmart’s three basic beliefs: Respect for Individual, Service to Customers and Strive for Excellence.
  • Willingness to work varied hours as per business needs. Flexibility to commute and/or relocate.
  • Experience in Change Management within a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced work environment. Adapts approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills. Recognized for effectively coaching and developing teams and achieving results in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field is preferred.
  • 6-8 years of experience required in retail operations management, financial planning, replenishment, negotiation and leading teams.
  • Permanent employment status in Canada.
