Ottawa River Power Corporation (ORPC) is looking for a highly motivated IT/Network Systems Administrator to deliver the desired results required by the IT, Engineering and Customer Service Departments. Ideal candidates for this position would be capable of working independently and with teams to succeed in their role through effective planning, documentation and execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Administer, develop and secure the corporate LANs, WANs and computer systems
  • Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery policies, strategies and network security protocols
  • Satisfy, in a timely and complete fashion, all business reporting documentation: timesheets, service orders, request forms, emails, and logs
  • Create educational training material for staff related to policies and cybersecurity
  • Develop new solutions to IT related challenges affecting various departments
  • Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Respond to requests for assistance and installations; accurately document such requests and resolutions though the IT work order system; regularly communicate with benefactors of open work orders until resolution
  • Troubleshoot a variety of problems and resolve immediately when possible; refer unsolved problems to appropriate third party vendors; monitor problems through ultimate resolution
  • Ongoing development, support and monitoring of network cybersecurity policies and procedures
  • Support and operation of fibre optic network
  • Assume additional responsibilities and complete special projects as needed or directed

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in an IT/Networking related program
  • Recent work experience related to position
  • An advanced knowledge of computer networks, hardware, software, cloud computing and server administration

Preferred Qualification Requirements

  • CCNA or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL
  • Software development skills
  • 2+ years of recent experience administrating Windows Server environments
  • Proficient in managing Active Directory and working with GPOsdistribution systems
  • Knowledge of fibre optic communication technologies
  • Experience with CAD and ESRI GIS software
  • Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity best practices

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

  • Clean criminal record (must be made available during hiring phase)
  • Driver abstract

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $56,000.00 to $75,500.00 /year
