  • Diploma or degree in Interior Design; NCIDQ certification is not required
  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years of experience in the Hospitality or Commercial sector
  • Well versed using AutoCAD 2016, Microsoft Office (incl. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe
  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to anticipate client needs, effectively identify problem areas and negotiate / mediate when necessary to resolve issues
  • Professional, client service-oriented and positive representative of the firm
  • Passion & flair for developing digital presentations, design narrative and other presentations to convey concept, design vision, etc. as well as exudes a sense of personal style
  • Well-developed time management and project management skills are required to undertake multiple projects
  • Ability to conduct site analysis – survey of existing building conditions & field measurements
  • Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn - proactive, ability to stay organized and detailed in your own work for accuracy, omissions & legibility
  • Personable with very good written and verbal communication skills, well-organized & effective problem-solver with strong hand-drawing skills

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager on daily basis, responsible for overseeing the complete design process of assigned projects from start to end – from schematic to full drawing sets; establishing project direction & working within project budgets and schedules while providing on-site support to trades, PM and others when required.
  • Lead projects in collaboration with principal under minimal supervision and must be able to manage multiple projects and work with a team of both designers and lead architectural technologists; delegating & assigning tasks as necessary for assigned projects
  • Prepare, issue and administer construction documentation consisting of: plans, elevations, details and specifications – to illustrate non-structural layouts, lighting, power and communications locations, reflected ceilings and lighting plans, door / lighting / paint schedules, materials, products and finishes, furniture selection, specifications and layouts & millwork in addition to shop drawing reviews and brand review submissions
  • Understand the requirements for a full set of plans of an interior space – life safety, building codes, and other technical elements – knowledgeable in the areas of design, drawing & details, finishes and building materials, specifications, codes, technical drawings, administration and business practices of interior design with complete construction administration from tender through project close out
  • Coordination of site visits & overall project management with focus on ensuring project timelines are completed as scheduled
  • Liaise, coordinate & collaborate with external consultants – including but not limited to: clients, brands, suppliers, trades, architects, structural, mechanical, electrical engineers, and other specialty consultants when necessary
  • Work towards a client budget within given timelines & budget restrictions; as set by RDI standards
  • Foster & cultivate positive / great client relationships – be aware of RDI philosophy, standards and overall company outlook
  • Manage office material samples for your projects, source products required on project, with strong understanding of pricing in preparation of FF&E budgets
  • Actively seeks out current trends, products & resources

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 /year
