We’re looking for a permanent receptionist to join our growing team starting 21 June 2021. This is an hourly position encompassing administrative job share duties. The job pays $19.75/hr and is 4 to 5 days per week (typically 9:00 to 5:00 Monday–Friday – with some flexibility). The ideal candidate:
Works effectively as a team member and enjoys interacting with a cast of characters
Shows initiative in completing tasks and tackling new challenges
Is comfortable working during periods of intense activity as well as those times when there’s (heaven forbid…yawn…) not a whole lot going on
Is handy with standard office equipment and fears not new technologies
Takes pride in their work and would be proud to be an interface between LGL and the cosmos, is a friendly face to staff and visitors, and has courteous and professional telephone manners
A typical day could include:
Receiving, screening, directing, and making telephone calls; taking and relaying messages
Greeting visitors and overseeing the office sign-in/out sheet
Keeping track of the ‘Staff Whereabouts’ boards
Coordinating travel arrangements (and cheerily handling frequent changes and cancellations) for staff including: accommodations, air travel, and rental vehicles
Carrying out routine administrative tasks such as inventory/ordering/restocking office, kitchen, and washroom supplies
Managing petty cash, sorting mail, coordinating courier deliveries and parcel tracking
Sorting, filing and retrieving files or documents, photocopying/scanning and assembling of documents, posting notices, and receiving, distributing, addressing, metering, and sending mail
Ensuring the front door of the office is unlocked by 9:00 am, opens blinds; and secured at 5:00 pm
Assisting with the office recycling program
Using standard office equipment such as: personal computer, calculator, label maker, laminator, postage machine, photocopiers, fax, coffee maker
Reading minds, firefighting, and performing random miracles at will
