The Coordinator will work as part of the integrated REGS team, collaborating on the development of internal and external communications materials including stories, social media posts, articles, brochures, and websites (web design and maintenance) utilizing a common brand. The position also develops proactive working relationships with UFV faculty and staff to help attain communication goals. Using judgment while working independently, professional writing skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships are key. Working closely with REGS team, the Coordinator will also plan REGS events, training workshops, and other engagement activities. Events may include Student Research Day, Microlectures, Publication Celebration, Undergraduate Research Excellence Awards dinner, Research Encounters, public forums, etc. The Coordinator attends meetings, events and functions outside of regular business hours as required. The Coordinator will learn many aspects of research and graduate studies administration so as to provide coverage and support as needed.

Completion of a diploma with coursework in marketing or communications from a recognized post-secondary institution
Completion of a certificate in event planning is an asset
Minimum three (3) years of experience in marketing, promotional document design and event planning, preferably in a post-secondary environment
Well-developed skills in interpersonal and written/oral communication, business and promotional writing and composition
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access)
Understanding of, and publishing experience with, web-based content management systems
Familiarity and experience with social media and blogs
Functional aptitude using popular graphic design programs such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred
Creative, highly resourceful, self-motivated, eager to learn, organized, with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to handle multiple projects, be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team environment
Knowledge of UFV faculties, departments, and internal procedures, protocols and policies preferred
