Major duties of a salon manager include oversight of facility operations, ensuring that customers are satisfied, managing employees schedules and performance, as well as working to make sure the salon is profitable. There is a great deal of responsibility involved in the position of salon manager. Salon managers interview, hire, train, promote, supervise and fire employees. They also oversee the stylist schedules and strive to provide opportunities for staff training in the latest techniques in the cosmetology industry. Salon managers make sure customer service needs are met. They also oversee (perform these duties as well) salon conditions in terms of appearance, cleanliness and safety, as well as making sure all supply inventories are stocked. Banking, budgeting and other financial issues are the responsibility of the salon manager, as is ensuring that profit is made.
