We are seeking a talented mechanical technician to join our Cryogenics team in developing novel systems that can cool down quantum chips to temperatures near absolute zero.
In this role, you will draw on your experience in mechanical assembly, welding, fabrication, and machining to build cryogenic systems tailored to quantum computing. As a member of a small and dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of hands-on mechanical fabrication processes and learn a variety of new skills on the job. You will rely on your eye for detail and ability to work in a clean, organized, and safe fashion to fabricate high-quality products needed for our critical cryogenics applications.

Assembly of various mechanical systems;
TIG and laser welding of metal assemblies;
Soldering and brazing of tubing and fittings for cryogenic systems;
Machining of small parts for prototyping;
Fabrication of cryogenic heat exchangers;
Testing of newly fabricated and/or installed assemblies;
Cleaning, polishing, and surface finishing of components for high-vacuum cryogenic systems.
Diploma (DEC III or equivalent) in a mechanical field (eg., Mechanical Engineering Technology, Welder-Fabricator) or equivalent experience;
3+ years of experience in a hands-on mechanical fabrication or assembly environment;
Valid driver’s licence.
General aptitude with the fabrication and assembly of mechanical systems;
Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings;
Ability to TIG and/or laser weld;
Ability to fabricate jigs for welded assemblies;
Experience soldering and/or brazing is an asset;
Experience with sheet metal forming is an asset;
Experience with manual machining (eg., drill press, lathe, mill) is an asset;
An eye for detail and ability to work in a clean and safe manner;
Interest in working on a variety of tasks and learn on the job;
Ability to work independently and quickly find solutions to problems;
Ability to use the various hand, power, pneumatic and measuring tools;
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
