The Team

The Cheque Processing & Operations team sustains the processes and technology ecosystem that ensure Cheque Processing operates as a stable and reliable service. We seek out and deliver continuous enhancements to make the Bank more efficient, and to reduce costs.

The role:
Through subject matter expertise in cheque processing and 3rd party vendor management this role provides the team with guidance to effectively support resolution of day to day production issues and inquiries, and contributes to management of key internal and external stakeholder relationships including Payments Canada, IBM, Symcor and various internal business partners.

Is this role right for you?

Oversee/support the controls and activities that are key to managing the Symcor and IBM relationships (e.g. Risk Reporting Packages, performance monitoring, Monthly/Quarterly Governance activities etc.)
Maintain up to date knowledge of Payments Canada rules and ensure BNS compliance with same. Support the Bank’s member representative in relevant working group discussions as needed.
Respond to/provide guidance on day to day issues (2nd level support) and inquiries related to cheque processing.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

Vendor relationship management skills (Symcor/BNS)
Knowledge of Payments Canada rules and standards. Ability to represent on relevant working committees.
Familiarity with Transit and GL accounting and oversight protocols (e.g. monthly risk assessment and reporting).
Expert knowledge of cheque processing including "Day 2" exception processing.
Expert knowledge of Symcor services, processes, governance model and contract.
