Here is an exciting development opportunity for a forester who is looking to expand their knowledge of woodlands activities which produce a stable fibre supply supporting manufacturing excellence! We are looking for a professional forester who wants to gain new skills and build a career in our family business.

The Position:

You will have opportunity to gain skills through assigned roles and responsibilities within a team environment in the planning, silviculture, and operations aspects of the business, with an emphasis on gaining a wide range of practical experience in forestry closely tethered to a speciality manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Woodlands Manager, the Forestry Supervisor- Planning will work with a team of professionals responsible for all woodland’s development activities. You will enjoy a balanced mix of field and office work, with exposure to all aspects of the supply chain process within a specialty manufacturing company.

Specific Duties:

  • Cutting and road permit development and submission
  • Appraisal assembly and submission in ECAS
  • Participation in working groups and meetings
  • Contract administration and supervision
  • Incorporating wildlife and other environmental values into harvest area designs
  • Completing all necessary field work including cut block and road layout
  • Consulting stakeholders
  • Preparation of site plans, harvest plans and cruise plans

Skills and Experience:

  • Registered member of the ABCFP with preference given to a Registered Professional Forester (RPF).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar capacity within the forest industry.
  • Knowledge of Forest Legislation, Regulations and Guidelines.
  • Positive attitude, dependable and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive and energetic team environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and be able to prioritize multiple projects/tasks.
  • Ability to identify and reduce risk and prioritize safety, throughout all aspects of the program.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and logical thinking skills.
  • Detail/results oriented with a focus on innovation.
