Apex is currently accepting applications for an Operations Supervisor role based in Dartmouth NS. Reporting to the Group Manager, the primary role of this position is to manage the warehouse and crews. Some weekend work and/or overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

Directing and managing Overhead Door and Door Hardware crews.
Develop and maintain crew schedules.
Fleet Management.
Providing technical assistance and training.
Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and specification.
Maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsible for the Health and safety committee.
Resolving work issue and recommending ways to improve.
Manage the handling, distribution, and storage of all freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of corporate warehouses.
Ensure all production orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner in adherence to delivery schedules.
Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties.
Maintain strict control over inventory levels in order to meet internal and external demand of product.
Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization.
Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials.
Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, or equipment.
Assess the need for, and arrange the purchase of, moving equipment like trailers, forklifts, crash pads, dollies, and so on.
Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.
Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters; make adjustments where necessary.
Implement and monitor performance metrics for shipping and receiving.

Requirements

A High School diploma or a GED.
Five years of direct work experience in a warehouse management function or supply chain management position.
Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management.
Direct knowledge of WHMIS and other safety systems.
Forklift certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation, with good writing skills.
Ability to interpret and act upon complex instructions.
Solid project management skills are essential.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Good financial and business awareness.
