The Design for Build, (Manufacturing Engineering and Product Data Management) Specialist, CSC is a full-time permanent position and will be responsible for acting as an Intelligent Customer on behalf of the wider Planning and Production Organizations. Ensuring that the Data originating in the design of the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) project can be effectively and efficiently consumed to enable procurement, Planning, manufacture, construction and test activities in the Halifax Shipyard.
From the early design stages through build of the CSC vessels, engage with a cross-functional Design for Build team to work closely with the CSC Design Agent and ISI ITD Architects to Develop the integration plan for Warship Designer and ISI software environment.
Involved in identification and capture of all production related data flows that will be required to facilitate CSC.
Acting as an intelligent customer ensuring publication and management of product data, capturing and maintaining information on products through their development and subsequent lifecycle.
Involved in developing the Integrated Data Environment (IDE)
Ensure that the product data will be under Configuration Control relative to product variants.
Ensure Production data is under effective change management processes.
Ensure design and production data to be captured within a PLM environment.
Involved in configuring the PLM to meet the requirements of the build phase.
Oversee the definition of interim products (MBoM) and block sequencing plan in a structure within the PLM.
Collaborate with the business to make any IT changes required to support an integrated business modelling approach for the CSC program and an efficient transition from design phases into supply chain, planning and production.
Lead in the business transition to Manufacturing Engineering Organization.
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience with the use of 3D product model software packages.
Experience with the use of Product Lifecycle Management software packages.
Experience with the use of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and scheduling software packages.
Relevant experience in complex system manufacturing environment.
Experience in Manufacturing process development.
Experience working in naval ship design, commercial shipbuilding, offshore construction, and/or other large military procurement programs.
5+ plus years of experience in a role that involved translating Engineering data into operations outputs.
Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing/Production Engineering or similar.
Experience in Computer Aided Manufacture, CNC data extraction and Manufacturing Output definition.
Experience in Manufacturing Execution software, assessment and implementation.
Strong personal time management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
