Delta Brewing Company, a production brewery in planning to be located in Calgary, Alberta, is looking to hire its Brew Master. These are exciting times in the Alberta craft beer market. DBC will consist of a full 4 vessel 25 bbl production brewery. DBC aspires to become a regular choice for consumers who enjoy great beer. Delta Brewing Company is seeking an experienced Brew Master. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced brewer, to grow with a new ‘quality first’ brewing company. This is a hands-on, grain to glass role. You will be responsible for the brewing process to ensure the highest standards of quality control are a top priority, as well as many other duties and responsibilities that coincide with a growth oriented company. JOB TITLE: Brew Master

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience/qualifications:

· Minimum three (3) years’ experience as Brew Master/ Head Brewer in a production brewery producing greater than 5,000 hl/year

· Five (5) years’ experience in commercial brewing, including fermentation management, laboratory, cleaning & sanitation, cellaring, off-sales packaging, and mechanical troubleshooting in a busy brewing environment

· Superior brewing skills with the ability to execute complex brewing procedures

· Supervisory experience with brewery employees

· Professional and positive attitude with excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with management, clients, suppliers, and the general public

· Extensive knowledge of safety standards, operations management and regulatory reporting documents and requirements

· Experience with the development, production and packaging of a variety of beer styles, including sour and barrel aged beer

· Experience and knowledge of brewing microbiology, biochemistry, yeast management and fermentation operations in relation to quality assurance programs

· Extensive experience in recipe formulation & refinement, and desire to innovate

· Ability to live and work in Canada


· Responsible for the brewing process

· Responsible for recipe formulation, and providing input into development and implementation of new products

· Responsible for the development and management of a quality assurance program

· Maintain a high level of safety standards and develop a company culture of safety

· Ensure all plant operations and procedures are safe, efficient, and effective at all times

· Ensure a consistently high quality product at all times

· Train and develop brewing skills and advanced brewing procedures for brewing staff

· Assist senior management in the development and implementation of yearly operational business plans

· Provide timely feedback to senior management regarding staff performance

· Source raw materials and optimize raw material supply chains

· Manage all laboratory functions required to analyze and maintain the highest level of product quality

· Develop a sensory training and evaluation program for all brewing and serving staff

· Reports to senior leadership

· Budget planning, and inventory control

· Maintain accurate production and raw material records

· Development and maintenance of standard operating procedures

· Production scheduling and coordination with sales department

· Involvement, in varying degrees, in various brewery activities and community/industry events
