Reporting to the VP, Talent, the Director Diversity & Inclusion is subject matter expert and organizational leader who designs, develops and manages all diversity and inclusion (D&I) programs and training. Partnering with internal stakeholders and external organizations to drive diversity goals across the business, the role provides thought leadership in the development of programs and initiatives to increase awareness and build organizational competency.
Research, design, support, and advise on the development of the enterprise-wide, integrated-with-Culture inclusion strategy, ensuring diversity and inclusion is embedded into enterprise talent and culture strategies and plans.
Develops and manages all D&I programs and training materials, including meeting and maintaining requirements under the AODA, to create, support and deliver D&I initiatives designed to increase employee engagement, improve labour productivity and improve recruitment and retention experiences.
Regularly present to business leaders and teams to engage all stakeholders in D&I strategy, agenda and objectives.
Cultivate strong and positive working relationships with key stakeholders within the business group to support the successful implementation, adoption and integration of D&I strategic plans and project work into the business by relating D&I work to business outcomes and adapting content to different audiences.
Provide best practice support and guidance, as needed, to HRBPs (individually or in intact teams, at LCL or at affiliate businesses) to better enable them to advise and counsel their groups on anything diversity/inclusion related
Design, implement, facilitate and support all diversity and inclusion leadership training, education and awareness programs. Develop diversity awareness and inclusion materials/content for use in people/talent programs at all levels of the organization.
Research and recommend strategic partnerships with special interest organizations to help guide our inclusionary efforts and share best practice information.
Manage partnerships and grow colleague participation in partner events.
Raise the profile of diversity and inclusion internally and develop communications content for internal and external initiatives.
Craft and manage company-wide diversity messaging in collaboration with Internal Communications
Maintain strong working relationships with HR, Corporate Affairs & Communication, Legal, Customer Relations, Front-End Labour Management, Labour Relations and external partner organizations to augment existing training in response to diversity-related legislative issues and complaints
Support the Loblaw Inclusion Council and partner with company employee resource groups and other key stakeholders to drive diversity goals across the business.
Partner with external organizations, community resource groups and industry thought leaders in the development of programs to increase internal awareness and build competency
Provide support to Government Panels, including the Canada-US Council for the Advancement of Women and the The Accessibility Directorate Partnership Table
Represent the enterprise and convey its commitment to inclusion at external opportunities
Analyze workforce composition and report to business leaders as required on areas including, but not limited to: representation by diversity group, representation by gender and job level, turnover by gender and reason, engagement by diversity group and demographic
Other related duties as required to support diversity and inclusion strategies and requirements.
Minimum 7 years progressive experience with at least 5 years with diversity and inclusion primary focus
Ability to act as a professional ambassador for the organization
In-depth knowledge of best practices in HR and Diversity and Inclusion
Excellent relationship management and consulting skills, which results in the ability to earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders (e.g., affiliate businesses, business leaders)
Solid stakeholder management and influencing skills
Solid change leadership and management skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively navigate and engage stakeholders amidst ambiguity and uncertainty
Ability to navigate various data resources and draw insight to track and understand past and current themes related to diversity and inclusion, and understand and articulate what the implications are for the business
Ability to navigate a matrix organization effectively
Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in a dynamic environment
Solid presentation, written and verbal communication skills, which bring clarity and precision at various decision-making meetings
Solid problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Strong data management and project management skills
Exceptional design, facilitation and presentation skills; willingness and capacity to design, develop and facilitate presentations at all levels of the organization
Strong knowledge of programs, policies and best practices that ensure equity and achievement of organizational D&I objectives in a variety of HR areas, including recruitment, flexibility, succession planning, training and development, and performance development
