The Social Media Community Coordinator is responsible for implementing the social media strategy and monitoring performance across social channels for the Toronto Film School and Yorkville University. The Social Media Community Coordinator must have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. They are responsible for starting and joining relevant conversations on behalf of the schools. Activities include growing relevant followers, engaging with users, promoting products, finding industry influencers, publishing timely news, monitoring and responding to brand mentions, staying informed on industry topics. This role is highly collaborative and an important member of the communications team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and goal setting for social media channels
  • Daily monitoring for all social media channels
  • Provide analytics for social media channels
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML)
  • Build meaningful connections
  • Coordinate and manage webinars and live streamed events
  • Listen to online chatter and respond appropriately
  • Report on online reviews and feedback
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering traffic and engagement metrics
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
  • Update online listings including Wikipedia etc.

Moderate conversations & cultivate leads
Identify graphic design requirements when needed

  • Oversee social media accounts’ layout

Coordinate with Content Creators

  • Coordinate with Digital Marketing to boost posts when needed
  • Perform related duties

Position Profile

Education and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in marketing, publishing, communications, or related field.
  • Strong communication skills in writing, editing, and imagery selection
  • Well organized with advanced knowledge of Canadian social media platforms.
  • Positive attitude, detail oriented, and good multi-tasking skills.

Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms
  • Analytical skills to measure social performance
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
  • Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels
  • Ability to gasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Multitasking and analytical skills
